Oh good, I'm safe as I'm not a chocolate lover or sweet-craver!!

My trouble is portion size!! When you look at the portion size on the diabetic diet, they are much smaller than I am used to eating!! Plus, I'm supposed to eat 1200 calories & 42 grams of fat. Ouch, I used to eat double that amount of fat some days as we eat dinner out so often & I would have a Caesar salad (even splitting it w/husband it is still a huge amount of fat).--Suzy

Bless: Remember to stock up on Epsom Salts--every ballerina's essential for sore toes (pointe shoes) & sore muscles. Nice long soak in the bath w/Epsom Salts, just like Grandma used to do after a long day harvesting in the garden!!!

Congrats on getting your dancing shoes back on.--Suzy

Thanks, Suzy. Surprisingly, I wasn't sore! Probably because I took it rather slow and easy. Can't jump due to bad knee, so I didn't even try, etc.

I've a follow-up Dr's appt. tomorrow to see what the various test results are. Not sure I want to find out! shocked

Bless, you do want your test results. It could be very painless.

Suzy: I hear you. I recently read an article that some restaurant portions are 200% over what is recommended that we eat. WOW!

The one that gets me is 1/3 Cup of rice is a portions size. That's not even worth me putting it on my plate. So for 1 C of rice is three servings of starch.

Canadagirl: Here's to good test results for you. I hope all goes well for you too.

Last week I lost 8 pounds. I just need to keep up the movement portion. This is really hard for me. No excuses others can do it, so can I and I will!

Striving: Congratulations on the weight loss. 8 lbs. is a LOT for 1 week!

Went to my dr's appt. Weight was down just 1.5 lbs. but I'll take it! At least I didn't GAIN over the holidays! B/P was good. Sugar could have been better, but it was "under control" according to the dr. Cholesterol was "excellent" he said. Most of my test results were good, but a couple require further testing for monitoring purposes. So, will do a follow-up lab test and see the dr. again in 6 weeks.

Bless! Woohoo!

Striving, have you considered mixing the rice with something else? For example, I like to mix rice in with salad. In that case, 1/3 cup is PLENTY. I will often grill off a SMALL piece of beef or pork, julienne it, make a healthy salad with a lot of stuff in it, add a small amount of rice and top it with the meat. No more than 4oz of meat.

Sometimes ChefSam, I need to be hit over the head. No I never would have considered adding rice to my salad. However that does make it have more bulk and I won't be grumbling about what a waste it was to make rice. THANKS!

One thing I do is make the rice and let it cool down a bit so it doesn't wilt the lettuce but it's still warm.

Didn't walk yesterday as DD was sick and didn't go to Wind Ensemble. Today's not looking good either as I can hear her sniffling away in her room AND it's supposed to rain. Maybe, hopefully! tomorrow.
