Frugal: I am so excited for you. It is moving along so quickly!
Cindy: So sorry for you, you poor dear. What the heck are they thinking of the pain? I hate that! I hate that you are suffering.
~~~~~~~~~~ Well, my computer was out of commission yesterday. Couldn't get on~due to the junky weather and storms and also tornado watches. Didn't let that deter me from working though.
Working on DD1s room closet. Have cleared most of it out, and moving some unnecessary items downstairs. No need keeping it in prime space.
Cindy, I hope you're feeling better. They gave me antibiotics too, to get the swelling down before they went in and worked on it. Also keeps risk of further infection down...but it's no fun to wait if the medicine doesn't ease the pain. (Luckily, it did in my case.)
I am very excited...DH helped me move the heavy stuff away from the LAST wall in our game room. It's been spackled, taped, and has a drop-cloth down. I'm itching to get at it, but DH is dithering about going out to eat.
He's cutting grass right now and might be too hot to go out later. It's sooo hot--mid 90s with a 74-degree dew point. Yuck!
Just heard the mower stop. Better go get him something cold to drink.
Well, he was done mowing, because we had a little pop-up rainshower. Just enough to make it even steamier than it already was out there... I was thinking about how nice it's been to re-arrange my sewing area as I put things back after painting. It's one corner of this game room and so I'm fairly limited. I'm always looking at it trying to see if I can arrange it more efficiently. I have a window I am loathe to block, or I'd rotate my desk. Unfortunately the desk has a return on it that keeps me having to face it in one direction, so between that and not blocking the window I'm kind of stuck. The good news is I cleared out a lot of junk from the desk drawer and the bookshelves so I actually have a little extra space. And we are going to pull the desk out from the wall about 12 inches which will give me some more room behind it, in addition to making my computer (a laptop) physically more accessible. Some day DD will move out and take her desk with her, and when that happens I'll snag that corner of the room for my cutting table. But she's only 12 and I'm in no hurry.
Oh trust me I was taking BIG pain pills but they weren't enough. I have to wait to get the infection out before they work on it or it could really cause meloads of problems. I did finally eat last night but I almost died afterward. I wasn't use to chewing that much.
I got up this morning and got the house cleaned. I even mopped the kitchen floor. I had to rest along but it felt good to be doing something.
This evening I mowed in front of my garage. The grass had gotten so high I almost couldn't do. I had to restart the mower four times and it's really a small space. I had planned on maybe doing the rest of the back yard tomorrow morning but I's rain. I'm thrilled for the rain but the grass won't be dry in time for me to get it done. Concerns me because at the side of the house is tall to.
Tomorrow I need to go get gift bags for the gifts. I got DGS a swing and I may have to use a garage bag. I figure at 1 he won't care. Also I'll iron if my clothes are dry. I didn't know it was raining and they got wet. I sure hope they dry.
Ok it seems at night my jar starts hurting more. I think I'll use the heating pad again. IT seems to help a little. I don't want to take any more pain pills. They last forever and I can't be doped up with MIL coming. I already take so much mortin it doesn't help with pain much.
This is my first post for the ROTM and I am excited. I am finally to a point where I am making progress on my bedroom and feel I want to participate here.
Everyone here is an inspiration to me after reading all of your posts. Whew, it made me tired just reading what everyone is accomplishing and has already accomplished!
I am just finishing up with a 3 week leave I took from work and in that time have made some great strides in my bedroom. I do still have a long way to go, but that is ok. Baby steps and break times work the best for me. I may not be able to work in my room everyday, but once I am back to work I will try for at least 1 day a week. Which works for me.
I have to take a look around the room and see what I want to work on next. Once I do I will be back to post those tasks.
Have a great weekend everyone!
amyp Great going on the moving of furniture and all ready to paint. I hear you on arranging things just so for working on sewing. I am using the breakfast room table for when I sew, because the light is so good there. The bedroom I could use (my old one) is dark and gloomy to me. I probably should change it out, but why bother now. Have some sewing to do for the ragg quilt this weekend. Good luck with your painting.
Cindy: So sorry about the infection. (((((HUGS))))))) and congratulations on your DGS's first birthday! Wow that went by quickly.
Moving Along: WELCOME to the ROTM thread. Just do what you can, and work in the babysteps. Look at how well you did the past three weeks. Life does get in the way, and you are taking a practical approach on how to get things done.
amyp- Glad to hear about DHs progress. He is doing much better than my DH was after his replacement.
cindykane-You might need to be on the pain pills just to be comfortable. I am sure MIL would understand. ~~~~~~~~~
DH finished the trim in the sewing room and I went around and painted over the nail holes. I put 2 coats of paint on the door and we will put the handle on and hang the door tomorrow. I ordered the clock today. Tonight I am going to JoAnn's for some decor. Have some ideas already. DH decided to put laminate on the table tops. We will get that tomorrow but need to be sure it matches the counter top we already bought. We will return the counter top for a closer match otherwise. I plan to move the cutting table in the room tomorrow. Still need to buy a chair. I will put money down on a new to me sewing machine Monday.
MIL came to visit 4 hours earlier than excepted! She decided she want to go shopping for clothes. When she told me that I wanted to hit her! But we went and it wasn't all that bad. Luckly I know the stores and she did know what she needed and we were able to find most of it. She's lost weight and needed pants. We found two in talls that work.
I took all the grandparents on DD's side to the birthday party. We had a great time DD and SonIL did a great job. She was upset with me for not telling her about the tooth but as I told her 'what could she do?' and I knew she was busy getting ready for the party. Next time I will tell call her because she was still upset.
Fugal I would take the pain pills but I won't have been able to drive and trust me there isn't enough meds to make me ride to the kids with any one of them driving.
Tuesday they come to start on the bathroom so tomorrow and Monday I have to enpty it of everything. I'll store it in the guest room. I'll get some tubs down from the attic.
The game room is officially PAINTED!! Woo hooooo!!! Happy dancing here! I still need to re-hang the pictures and all, but my desk and computer are back in place and I actually got it all hooked up properly. DH is mildly in shock...  We re-arranged just a bit to give me a little more room in my corner. It allows me to have my laptop turned so I can use both its screen and my monitor...and reach all the necessary buttons. So far I like it pretty well. May have to invest in another carpet mat though so my chair moves around easily. Tomorrow I want to get the last set of blinds re-installed and start hanging pictures back up. I plan to re-arrange those, too, because I want a small bulletin board near my desk. The last thing is to make some double welting to put on the valances and apply it. Then this room will officially be DONE. At least until I can talk DH into getting rid of the carpet for laminate and replacing or recovering the sleeper sofa. Of course, until he gets back to work, that may be problematic.
Pictures/bulletin board/I-love-me stuff and blinds are up. It looks a whole lot better. I may have to move one item if I can't live without my wall lamp (and I probably can't). Other than that, it looks pretty good!  I emptied out one of my thimble holders and wiped it down, then wiped all the thimbles (between 60 and 80) down, before I put it back on the wall. Still need to put the thimbles back but that can wait till tomorrow. Tuesday if the weather cooperates DH and DD will go fishing, leaving very early and returning late. I'm hopeful I'll get the valances finished and back up that day. Then it's just tool-gathering and such, to put away. Another project almost completed...yay!
