I bought "junk" food for my birthday tomorrow - hot sauce and cheese to make nachos! (I have the chips). A small bag of skittles and some Propel mix.

$12.69

I also placed my Angel Food order - $55

My March total is now $154.21 but hopefully that will help for the next month because of Angel Food.

Diane, also best wishes for the day.

I did my st pat's meal as everything cost about $12 to make and the club was doing a meal for 9 plus tip. I did stop by and they had leftover corned beef they were selling for $5 for a large bag...they told me it would fill a quart bag(which is what they were selling, but gave me a full to go container, which filled a gallon bag!!) It is now portion packed in 3 oz servings in the freezer. Dogs and I have been snacking on boiled potatoes and carrots for the past 3 days! I won't give them the cabbage as they have a habit of sitting down by me, dropping a SBD, then walking away. And let's just say, they smell worse than any human being, even my ex!! smile

Lots of dollar sales this weekend so stocked up. Spent $60 and got:
5 lbs strawberries ($1/lb)
3 lbs fresh mushrooms ($1/lb)
2 pasta sauce($1 @)
4 frozen microwave pizzas($1)
6#shredded sharp cheddar($2/lb)
1 gal milk 1.49
2 zucchini
2 yellow squash
3lb onions
3 old bananas
1 tub 2 of cottage cheese and sour cream
2-1/2 gal of OJ @ $1 each
3 tomato paste
6 stewed tomatoes
8 cans of dog food on sale for 40 cents each as they are getting a new brand and clearanced this one out-
and 2 10 lb bags of dry food at 30% off.

the fruit will not last so the bananas and strawberries that are leftovers will be indiv frozen for smoothies or protein shakes that I make as meal subs in the warm weather. I already have some blackberries and raspberries that I bought at a similar 10 for 10 sale in the freezer.

Mixing the forzen berries with some milk, sweetner, a couple ice cubes and proteing powder is an inexpensive meal that is just so decadent and only costs me about a dollar!!

Didn't go grocery shopping this weekend, but will probably stop by after work tomorrow to pick up bread, sugar, and coffee creamer.

Cooked a chicken curry for the week.

Breakfast was pancakes and bacon.

Lunch was rice, chicken curry, broccoli, green beans, and cashew curry.

Dinner will probably be leftovers from lunch.

The last couple of weeks have been a catch as catch can for meals.

So I'm planning on getting back to the basic regarding meal planning and doing better things in terms of time and nutrition.

Yesterday was warm enough 49 to grill. While I went and purchased some protein to grill, DH made potato, carrot and onion packets. I picked up steak, chicken and brats. We have lots of leftovers.

Tonight will be salad greens with steak and a side of macaroni and cheese. Tomorrow night wil be chicken stir fry with broccoli, sweet peppers, broccoli, onion, garlic, ginger, carrots over rice.

After that I'm not sure what we'll be having.

Ladies you have inspired me to clean out my freezers and pantry.
I definitely have enough food for at least a month with only picking up milk and fresh fruit/veggies. Thank you for your inspiration. I made up a two week list of items to eat, and make with what I have at home. So far so good!

That's fantastic Dianaro2. So, what are you going to do with the "extra" grocery money?

Spent last night cooking for some friends. Their mother is staying with them and undergoing major surgery. I wanted them to have food for the week so they didn't have to worry about it. While I was at it, I also cooked a bunch for us both for the freezer and dinner tomorrow night. I was EXHAUSTED by the time I finished at 7:30. Dropped off the food last night and came back and crashed.

Actually STRIVING, that money will come in handy to pay off some credit card bills. I also am going away for a Women's Weekend in April, and can use a little "spending" money.

ChefSam:
That was so nice! Good for you. I KNOW your friends appreciated that. Will this be your busy time with work too, so you can be prepared with meals?
