Last night we had meatloaf, pan fries and steamed broccoli with cheese. Tonight is a 'breakfast' night, so I think we'll have waffles and bacon. After the kids are in bed a friend is coming over and we're going to bake a slew of cookies for the freezer.

3 freezers full of food and NOTHING sounds good for tonight! I hate that. I had a latte this afternoon and now I'm full and nothing sounds appealing.

I'll probably end up making shrimp scampi with rice and a salad.

DD wanted a scrambled egg with the French bread roll I bought at the farmer's market today, for her dinner.

I made rice sticks (noodles) for myself - with Chinese sausages, carrots and lettuce. There's enough for tomorrow's lunch and at least one meal over the weekend.

Mary: That's a good question! I don't know, yet! Haven't decided on a menu yet.

Rice, definitely, with probably a beef curry, chicken, and fish; hard boiled eggs; a salad; vegetables; a fruit platter; a couple of different puddings and pies for dessert.

There'll be around 25-30 to dinner.

DH has been keeping the weekly groceries to under $70. Today we went to the bulk food store and bought $80 worth. Much of it was oatmeal and fruit for his granola. He bought several snacks and we picked up 3 different pastas. The store had a recent remodel and I had not been there since. Wow. What a change. The building used to look like a dump and now it has a brick front and a hometown grocery is going in on the other side before the end of the year.

I am baking an apple crisp tonight. It is cold and windy today and we had soup and a sandwich for dinner. As long as the broiler was on for the sandwiches, I whipped up a crisp.

We planned a menu for the next week as usual. Last night we went out with friends and they just can't understand why we don't go out more than once a week. I told her we didn't have to because we know what we are having each day and that Fri is our night to go out for dinner. They go out 3-4 times a week. We may go out one other night once a month but that is it. It works for us.

Sat-sandwiches on Artisan bread and soup
Sun-salamini sausages and baked beans
Mon-pork chops
Tue-spaghetti
Wed-Hot dogs and LO baked beans
Thu-chicken salad
Fri-out

DD and I had the munchies on our way home from work & school on Friday, so, stopped at the corner grocery and bought some snacks:

bananas, $.33/lb = $.52
1 can iced tea = $.99
1 large bag potato chips = $2.89
1 large bag spicy munchies = $2.89
Total = $7.39

Today, I did the regular grocery shopping:

1 cinnamon swirl bread = $1.49 (50% off reg. price)
1 raisin cinnamon bread = $1.49 (50% off reg. price)
1 loaf sandwich bread = $1.29
1 coffee creamer = $3.50
1 doz. eggs = $1.79
1 gal. milk = $2.29
1/2 gal. orange juice = $1.49
4 apples (1.29 lbs; golden delicious), $.47/lb = $.61
4 apples (1.53 lbs; granny smith), $.47/lb = $.72

(DD prefers granny smith apples and I like golden delicious; other types of apples ranged in price from $1.99 to $2.99/lb)

1.91 lb. seedless red grapes, $.77/lb = $1.47
chicken breasts (boneless, skinless, on sale for $1.77/lb) = $4.55
chuck roast (boneless), on sale, $1.47/lb = $3.47
OM cold cuts (roast beef) = $1.99
2 cans ready-serve soup, $2.00@ = $4.00

(yes, I know, home made or canned concentrate would be cheaper, but I like to have a couple of cans of ready to serve soups on hand as part of my earthquake supplies)

Total came to $30.15

My total spent on food so far this month comes to $29.14 + $10.09 + $7.39 + 30.15 = $76.77. I have $73.23 left in this month's grocery budget.

In addition to the regular groceries, I also spent $7.89 to buy another piece of chuck roast for the prayer meeting dinner. So far, I have spent $4.99 + $7.89 towards the prayer meeting dinner. I have a separate budget for that, though.
