I have been searching for pantry organization information, specifically, categories to arrange things by. Can anyone either direct me where I can find it (I am sure someone must have posted about this) or tell me how you do this? Thanks!

I group all cereals (hot and cold) on one shelf. Also protein bars and popcorn go on this shelf.

Then all "canned veggies and canned fruit."

Then "Meat and protein (includes fish and beans), grains, pasta, soups and broth"

A shelf for condiments and baking supplies

And my bottom shelf is for cat food, cat vitamins, people vitamins, aspirin, etc.

A higher shelf for tea, coffee, bulk items.

We can't list links here: but I just did two quick internet searches, using these words, with good results:
"pantry organization" and "pantry shelf labels". I use google.

Hi Babs:
WELCOME TO GON! So glad you joined us. There are alot of
postings regarding pantry organizing.

My pantry is different than Abundance's.

I have paper goods, on the top shelf. (Tissue, plastic bags, wrap)
Second shelf is double decker, Put soups, canned goods, pasta, rice, condiments, on the two shelves there

Third shelf is frostings, baking items, juice powder, jellos and puddings, snacks, and the pet food in containers.

I place the Paper towels, TP, and litter on the floor.

Hope this helps.

If you search here on the forum , using pantry, there should be some more hints to help.

I DON'T HAVE A PANTRY!!! I wish someone could give me one for Christmas!

I organize things by type - soups, sauces, grains, cereal, fruit, vegetables, etc., and items suitable for lunches, such as canned tuna.

Any system is OK, as long as it works for you. But generally speaking, "like with like" is a good rule of thumb. Maybe you don't need canned carrots, but the canned beans should be nearby.

Like most have said I usually group like items together, canned goods, baking supplies. However some things I group together that would make a quick meal for those times I just don't feel like looking through every thing.

I group canned or bottled spaghetti sauce with the spaghetti noodles, chili starter mix with tomato paste and crackers. You get the idea. That way I don't see the chili mix, think mmm, chili and then find out I don't have the other ingredients to go with it, or crackers to serve with.

Hi Babs, WELCOME!!!! I don't have much different to add but did want to say welcome to the forum!

I pretty much do the same thing as everyone here. I use lots of clear glass jars (sold as Cracker Jars) to hold pastas and flours and such, and the rest is grouped together as others have described.

Babs, hi WELCOME.

In addition to what everyone said, try the first in first out. Why? to prevent wasting due to expiration.

For those of you who haven't already seen them, here are a few pics of my pantry. We use a lot of clear plastic containers to group like items together. In this pic, I had not yet purchased the clear container for the bag of chips (as in the last pic).

We also store pet supplies in our pantry - in a unit with drawers below the bottom pantry shelf.

Bagged chips are stored in a large, clear container:

These pics aren't recent, but we still have the same setup.

ladyblue - Thanks! Those clear plastic containers are a lifesaver. If you start with several different sizes, organizing them is sort of like a jigsaw puzzle - you can move them about from place to place until you find the perfect fit. And, you'll find that you'll change things to adapt to the items in your pantry at the time. It's an evolution! LOL!
