I just shortened my mini blinds on the front porch.
I save a few of the blindslats for when I'm painting. Saves taping the molding, I just hold the blindslat against the wall and paint, then move the slat till I finish the paint job, and toss it in the garbage. Works great for painting window frames, you can cut them to size too.

I have a number of clear video cases from the dollar store that I use to store small items like gift tags, foreign coins, hobby items. It is easy to label them, too, if needed.

Hi Emjai and welcome to the forum. Thank you for sharing the vinegar tip...I use it in place of softener in my washer...
Bushlady...I never thought about using those video cases! Thank you!
God bless,
Bonnie

I saw a picture of a bagel impaled on a small CD spindle. With the plastic lid on, it acted as a single bagel carrier.
A long spindle for 100 DVDs or CDs would hold even more bagels.
Keeping bagels in an empty DVD spindle is probably not much better than just keeping them in the package they came in.
But the image illustrated that with a little imagination most everyday things can probably be reused for some other purpose.

I use the CD spindles to hold bonus discs from DVDs, special features, etc. They are organized enough this way because I don't go back and watch them very often and they are protected. (I keep the actual movies in a binder.)
Bushlady, pill bottles with a good seal on them would work well for travel amounts of toiletries...or a small amount of sunscreen for the beach or the pool. Also would work for spice containers.
Speaking of spices...I came up with the coolest "spice rack", it looks like a bunch of magic potions lined up on the back of the stove! I bought a bunch of tiny bud vases (about 15 of them, 50 cents each) from Walmart and filled them with spices using a small funnel, the tops are those melted looking marbles that you get for candlescaping, about 50 in a bag for 2 dollars, way more than you need. You pick through the different marbles to find the ones that have an especially pointed end, and use them point down as a stopper for each bottle. The marbles I got were different colors, and I use them to help identify the contents. NOW. These don't fit perfectly so if you are a stickler for airtight spices or if you take them place to place, then it won't be a solution for you. Mine did not need labels because I know what's inside and I'm the only cook, and I have help from the color of the marble on top. I also did not shelve them because they were so cute, I wanted them out...and my collection is 14 of them that fit perfectly on the back of the stove, resting on the wall behind the stove. For large amounts, I pour into my palm, then into the food. For small sprinkly amounts, I plug most of the hole with my thumb and shake into the food.
Someone mentioned fire starters. I have some ideas for that, having come out of the woods recently.
Cotton balls or Qtips saturated in either hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol catch very quickly.
A waterproof firestarter for outdoors or camping...either of these or strips of cardboard dipped in melted candle scraps.
And the easiest firestarter of all is prank birthday candles where the flame keeps coming back.

I'm using a prescription pill bottle (label removed) to carry toothpicks in my purse. It's not near as big as the ones I've seen in the stores, and best of all...it's free! I'm sure I could find one at a camping store but this one used up a bottle I already had. Now we're set for our occasional trips to Taco Del Mar!! YUM!
music, I like sound of you "spice rack" it sounds darling! Great and creative way to use some of those bud vases and marbles....
God bless,
Bonnie
