Did You Know? Fun Facts Don’t Spend a Fortune on Halloween Candy This Year $23 is the amount of money most American households spend on candy for Halloween. I checked in with my neighbors. Most of them spent nearly double that last year, and a select few spent nearly triple. If you want to cut your candy costs, here are three money- saving tips: 1. Buy late. Many retailers mark down their candy as it gets closer to Halloween, like October 30th. Your candy choices may be limited, but the prices will be lower. 2. Hand out the candy. Hand out the candy yourself, rather than putting it in a bowl for the kids to help themselves. Then you’ll be able to ration it, making it last much longer. 3. Don’t buy candy you’re tempted to eat. If you buy candy you and your family are tempted to eat, your candy bowl may be empty before the first trick-or-treaters arrive at your door. Then, you’ll have to run out and buy more. 4. Buy candy from a warehouse club. Buying a few mixed variety candy packs from warehouse clubs, in bulk, can save you a few bucks. 5. Skip the Halloween-only choices. Many candy manufacturers sell special packs of Halloween candy that is the same as their regular candy, but wrapped in Halloween wrappers…and it’s generally more expensive. Keep an eye out for price differences. Visit Our Get Organized Now! Store to See All of Our GON Products
