5 Simple Things You Can Do To Get Environmentally OrganizedSmall things can lead to changes that are huge. This is especially true when it comes to getting environmentally organized. You can make changes without even changing what you do on a daily basis that much. On the other hand, there are also daily things that you can change. The point is, by doing just a few little things, you can make a large impact on your carbon footprint. Here is a quick look at 5 things that can help you lessen the impact you have on the planet.Change Your Light BulbEnergy consumption is a big thing, environmentally speaking. We can lessen the amount of energy we use simply by changing a light bulb. In fact, the easiest and quickest way to save both money and energy is to switch to a CFL or compact fluorescent light bulb. CFLs differ from incandescents in that instead of converting the heat they generate into light; they convert energy into light. They also consume nearly 75% less energy while lasting as much as 10 times longer. Can the Old Gas CanWhen you absolutely have to use natural resources, use them, but try to do so in environmentally friendly ways. For example, we all cut our grass and that means using a lawn mower. That lawn mower runs on gas. Gas is a natural resource. Now, there is a special gas can that you can get to transport that gas from the station to your home. It is environmentally friendly and has a spout that is self-venting. It is also compliant with all CARB and EPA regulations.Making Big Changes? Do it SmartIf you are considering renovating or remodeling, consider doing so in an environmentally friendly way. Designs are now more friendly to the environment because of reduced emissions, energy consumption and illnesses. More sustainable practices are being used now compared to 50 years ago.Ditch the BottlesMaybe you are one of the millions of people who drink bottled water on a daily basis. If this is the case, consider giving it up. Each year, there are almost 30 billion plastic bottles of water sold just in the US alone. Less than 20% of that number end up being recycled. Even the ones that are recycled mean that unnecessary energy will be used to recycle them. The thing is, many of the companies that supply bottled water use your normal tap water to fill those bottles. You can do your part to reduce your carbon footprint by drinking your own tap water or installing a filtration system in your home and using reusable bottles.Commute SustainablyHow often do you drive to work alone? Or anywhere for that matter? Sustainable commuting is not done this way. Instead, try carpooling, riding a bike or the bus or even walking. If you have to drive alone, make sure that your tires are properly inflated, you drive slower and combine your trips when you can. All of these things will save you when it comes to gas consumption. If you have to travel long distances, consider taking a train or even purchasing carbon offsets that will invest money into alternative energy.
